A London-based team working on Wi-Fi and local network setups since 2013.
Decomi started in 2013 as a small operation focused on a narrow problem: homes and offices in London with routers plugged in but signal that never reached the back rooms. The founder, an electronics engineer who had spent several years fixing office network faults for a facilities contractor, decided there was room for a service that dealt only with wireless coverage, cabling and router configuration — not broadband sales, not hardware retail, just the setup work itself.
Thirteen years later the company is still built around that same narrow focus. The team has grown to six people, each handling site visits, cabling or configuration work across six areas of the city. Over that period the company has completed 1,652 jobs for 1,014 clients, and 238 of them have come back for a second project — usually after moving flat, extending a lease on a new office, or adding a garden room that needed its own access point.
The mission is straightforward: make sure a wireless or wired network actually reaches every room it needs to, and make sure the person paying for it understands what was done and why. Too many network problems in older London properties — thick party walls, basement flats, converted terraced houses — get patched with a supermarket range extender rather than solved properly. Decomi's approach is to look at the building first, then choose equipment and placement to match it, rather than selling a fixed package regardless of the property.
The longer-term view is less about growth targets and more about staying useful to the same six areas the company already knows well. Familiarity with local building types — Victorian terraces in Islington, ex-council blocks near the Thames, small office conversions around Kings Cross — means fewer wasted visits and fewer wrong guesses about where a signal will or won't travel.
Founded: 2013, 13 years of continuous operation.
Team size: 6 technicians and network specialists.
Typical reply time: within 3 hours of a request being sent.
Services offered: 7, covering wireless, cabling and network security work.
The team's background is mixed on purpose: some came from telecoms cabling work, others from IT support desks handling small business networks, one from building services. That mix means a job rarely needs a second visit from a different specialist — cabling, wireless configuration and basic network security are usually handled by the same person on site. Roughly 78 clients a year work with Decomi, a volume that stays manageable enough for the same small team to keep handling every visit personally, without subcontracting to unfamiliar technicians.
Both. Many properties need a mix — a wired backbone between floors with wireless access points feeding rooms that can't easily be cabled.
Most flats and houses are done within a single visit of two to four hours, depending on how much cabling is involved and how many access points are needed.
Where the existing router or access points are capable of the coverage needed, yes. Replacement is only suggested when the current hardware genuinely can't do the job.
Decomi currently works across six districts in and around central and North London. See the contact page for details or to check a specific address.
